Mechanical Runway Sweeper(MRS)

AUXILARY ENGINE :-
TATA 697 NA Engine is fitted on Sub chassis frame fitted with a Pulley to Drive the Exhauster fan by "V"-Belts arrangement.
EXHAUSTER FAN :-
The Exhauster fan is a high capacity centerifugal blower of Low pressure ratio and dynamically balanced. It is driven by TATA 697 NA engine through a "V" Belt arrangement. The Exhauster fan pulley incorporates a free-wheel drive. Which permits the Exhauster fan to run down to a smooth stop when the prime mover is shut down.
DIRT CONTAINER :-
The dirt container is a welded M.S.Tank of large capacity, mounted on a Sub-frame on the chassis. It is tilt able rearwards by a hydraulic jack for discharging the contents through a rear door. The tilting angle has been so arranged as to be higher than the angle of ropes of the contents. The Dirt Container is provided with filter bags so as to prevent erosive sand grains from passing in to the exhauster fan. A suitable size opening in the dirt container connects it is the inlet side of the Exhauster fan so as to enable the required level of vacuum to be maintained in the chamber to induce air flow in to it through the suction nozzles of the Suction Hood.
SUCTION HOOD :-
  • The Suction hood, mounted under the chassis frame, houses the cleaning elements. For cleaning operation, it is lowered to the working position and supported on rubber wheels. For transit travel and during maneuvering (Reversing turns etc) It is to be retracted to the non-operating position. For long transit a machanical lock has been proveded to keep it locked in the retracted position.
  • The suction hood incorporates a total of 4 suction nozzles, including one for heavy objects pick up. Cauted diverter ledges gather up and direct heavy objects towards the heavy objects pick up nozzle. The other three nozzles run the width of the sweeper and pick foreign objects of smaller dimensions and weight.
  • A hydraulically-driven, variable speed roller brush dislodges adherent objects on the runway surface, speed control for brush is provided in the drivers cabin.
  • Blowing air nnozzles fed from the exhauster fan delivery side provide the 'ADDITIONAL AIR' which aids in dislodging objects from the runway surface and bringing them in to the suction air system.
  • For use of the machine as a pavement-cleaning units, special nozzles can be attached to be blowing air side.
